  From Barb: 1880 census living on 3209 Kitterriver Ave. Obit from St. Louis P.D. Feb. 10, 1902 p.2: "Maes-On Sunday, Feb 9 at 11 pm. Anton Maes, the beloved husband of Virginia Maes (nee Vanderoorde) and the beloved father of John, Mary, August, George, Jacob, Charles and Louise Luepke (nee Maes) at the age of 68 years. Funeral from the family residence, 2719 Meramec St.,Feb 12 at iam to St. Thomas Aquinas Church, thence to SS Peter andPaul Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Bay City (Mich) and Rock Island papers please copy." 1900 census (looks like Mars) Anthony Maes, 68, born Feb. 1831, married 40 years, he&parents born Belgium, owns home Virginia Maes, 60, born Feb 1840, married40, mother of 9-7living, she&parents born Belgium neither Anton or Virginia can read or write Mary L. daughter, born Nov. 1867 in MO Charles, son born May 1884 in MO, shoeworker 1860 census St. Louis Anton Maes, 25 is a laborer in brickyard, neighbor of Peter Mandeville and Teresa DeClerq. On the 1852 Virge Maria manifest the name looks like "Antricius." 1880 St. Louis directory lists Maes Anton, brick. 3209 Park av Maes John, lab.. bds. 3209 Park av. Holy Family Catholic Church, Cahokia, IL: Antoine Mas* and Catherine Vandervourd 14 Jan. 1862, Antoine Mas, son Pierre Mas [No mother's name written] of one part; and Catherine Vandervourd, dau. of Francois Vandervourd and [No mother's name written] of the other part.
