  1870 census IN, Whitley Co. McCarter, Alfred 43, Methodist minister, born in Penn. Sarah Anne,32, keeping house, born in Ohio George Wilbur, 11 Jacob E.E., 9 Sophiah L., 5 William A. 1 A biography of him is on p. 290 of History of Kosciusko Co.pub. 1887. He was a Methodist Episcopal minister. In the 1850 census in Peoria, Illinois there is Alfred G. MCarter, 23, born PA -I have no other record of him in Illinois so maybe this is not the same AG McCarter. Died: FUNERAL NOTICE Rev. A.G. McCarter... Died at his home January 8, 1899.
