- "Mrs. George McCarter Passes Away Tuesday Night; Funeral Friday
Mrs. George McCarter, of 322 South Indiana Street, widow of the late George W. McCarter, passes away at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, at the Epworth hospital in South Bend, of a virus infection with which she had been stricken in the last month. She was 73 years old.
Florence Robinson McCarter was the daughter of the late Alvin and Mary Robinson and was born west of Silver Lake. She moved to Warsaw with her parents in 1890 at the age of 18, when her father became county recorder. In 1895 she married the late George W. Mc Carter, former surveyor of Kosciusko County, city engineer and contractor and had lived at the above address for about 45 years. She was a member of the Warsaw Methodist Church, Clio Literary Club, Mothers' Study Club, Warsaw Garden Club and leaves a host of friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Hartman and Mary McCarter; a son, John McCarter; and three grandchildren, James Van Horne, of South Bend, Charles Hartman, of Warsaw and John McCarter, Jr. of Oak Park, IL.
She rests at the Landis Funeral Home until services at the residence at 2 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the family lot at Oakwood."
